Metcal’s CV-5200 Connection Validation Soldering Station Changes Everything

You may or may not have heard about Metcal’s new soldering station, the CV-5200. The evolutionary tool removes much of the reliance on visual inspection of hand-soldered joints and adds a second, more technology-driven method for validating a successful Read more

Why SensaTemp® Is The Most Efficient Soldering Technology

Posted on by Andy in Product Spotlight, Soldering Tips and Tricks Leave a comment

The key to an efficient assembly and rework application is to maintain proper tip temperature and avoid damage, which is why SensaTemp® from PACE has become a leading technology in the electronics manufacturing industry.

Your run-of-the-mill soldering station may indicate it’s soldering at, for instance, 700°F. However, that temperature display only indicates the heat of the soldering pencil. It does not take into account the additional heat generated when coming in contact with the solder and component or printed circuit board.

This is precisely where SensaTemp® technology is leaps and bounds more efficient for general and precision soldering applications.

What is SensaTemp®?

SensaTemp® is a highly responsive, close-looped temperature control system, featuring a high-precision laser-trimmed sensor.

SensaTemp® recognizes the work’s thermal load, and instantly provides the heat required for safe, rapid reflow. Significantly reducing the chances of operator damage, The PACE MBT stations installed with SensaTemp® provide an advanced thermal process control. This control allows you to solder at a safer, lower temperature. And according to PACE, this allows you to get consistent results even during heavy, continuous use.

There are numerous configurations of MBT stations with SensaTemp® technology on our site and you can check them out here.

New at All-Spec: Metcal MX-5200 Series

Posted on by Andy in New Products Leave a comment

We are proud to announce that we are now taking orders for Metcal MX-5200 series rework systems.  These ESD-safe dual simultaneous output systems will start shipping in early January 2013, but we now have information on some configurations that will be available. The MX-5200 series stations will be replacing the MX-5000 series, providing you with a familiar form with added functionality.

The largest change between the MX-5000 and MX-5200 series is their power output capabilities. Now the dual output system will dynamically share the 80 watt power supply for both attached hand pieces. This allows for dual simultaneous use, so you can switch between two different hand pieces with no downtime, or even have two operators soldering at the same time on the same system!

Also, the new MX-5200 series stations have a new red on-off switch that lights up when turned on. This not only lets you easily see if the station is on from a distance, but also helps to differentiate it from the MX-5000 series systems.

Check out our site for more information on the MX-5200 series stations, and be sure to place an order soon to ensure that you can get your station right at the beginning of 2013! Also, check out our cross reference chart to the left to find the proper upgrade for your current MX-5200 series station.
